Abstract:Objective To estimate the efficacy of a new guiding device used in the treatment of scaphoid fractures. Methods Between 2020.1 and 2023.12,the clinical data of 29 patients with acute wrist scaphoid fractures treated in the Fourth Medical Center of the PLA General Hospital were collected and analyzed. All patients underwent percutaneous compression screw internal fixation with the new guiding device we designed.Fracture healing time, surgical time,X-ray exposure frequency and complications were collected.Mayo wrist scoring system was used to evaluate the functional recovery of wrist. Results All patients were followed up integrally and achieved primary fracture healing after 4-10 weeks postoperatively, with an average of(7.3±1.6)weeks.The average surgical time was(40.1±6.1)minutes,with a duration from 33 to 51 minutes. The Mayo score was(26.7±19.5)preoperatively and(89.8±6.9)postoperatively,with a statistically significant difference(t=21.85,P<0.05).According to the Mayo scoring system, the recovery of wrist function was excellent in 20 cases, good in 7 cases and fair in 2 case.No infections, ischemic osteonecrosis, malunion or traumatic arthritis occurred after operation. Conclusions Application of the new-designed guiding device can shorten surgical time, minimize incision and injury, improve the accuracy of screw placement and achieve excellent results in the treatment of wrist scaphoid fractures.
