Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of subcutaneous suture combined with tissue glue in total knee arthroplasty(TKA)wound closure. Methods A retrospective study was conducted on 80 patients who underwent TKA treatment in our hospital from September 2019 to September 2021.All incisions of the study group were performed with absorbable suture for continuous intradermal suture and tissue glue(n=41),while the incisions of the control group were performed with absorbable suture alone for continuous intradermal suture(n=39).The postoperative length of hospital stay, the number of dressing changes, the visual analogue scale(VAS)of pain, the Hospital for Special Surgery Knee Score(HSS),and the improvement of postoperative incision healing time, effect and satisfaction were evaluated. Results Patients in both groups were followed up for 6 to 15 months, with an average of 10.6 months. The differences in age, gender, side, operation time, preoperative HSS score, postoperative VAS score, knee mobility and knee HSS between the two groups were not statistically significant(P all>0.05).The postoperative hospitalisation days(mean 7.97 days)and the number of dressing changes(mean 1.27 times)of the study group were less than those of the control group(10.44 days,4.54 times),and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The patient satisfaction rating of the study group(4.30 points)was higher than that of the control group(3.86 points),and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusions Continuous intradermal suture by absorbable sutures with tissue glue has good clinical results for the incision of primary TKA surgery. It helps reduce the frequency of dressing changes, shorten the hospital stay, and improve patient satisfaction.
