Abstract:Objective To investigate the effects of a home-based tele-rehabilitation training programme on postoperative functional independence, hip function, pain levels, mental status and quality of life in elderly hip fracture(HF)patients. Methods 138 elderly HF patients who were surgically treated between January 2022 and January 2024 in our hospital were selected. The patients were divided into observation group(n=69)and control group(n=69)by using random number table method. The control group was trained with home routine rehabilitation education and the observation group was trained with home tele-rehabilitation programme. At discharge and at 1,3,6 and 9 months postoperatively, patients were assessed for hip function using the Harris Hip Scale(HHS);functional independence using the Functional Independence Measure(FIM);pain using the Numerical Rating Scale(NRS);anxiety and depression using the Hamilton Anxiety Scale(HAMA)and Hamilton Depression Scale(HAMD);and health-related living using the European quality-5 dimension-5 levels questionnaire(EQ-5D-5L)and the self-rated calibrated Visual Analogue Scale(EQVAS).Results At 1,3,6,and 9 months after surgery, the FIM and HHS scores of the patients in the observation group were higher than those of the control group(P<0.05);the NRS scores of the patients in the observation group were lower than those of the control group(P<0.05);the HAMA and HAMD scores of the patients in the observation group were lower than those of the control group(P<0.05);and the EQ-5D-5L health utility scores of the patients in the observation group and the EQ-VAS scores were higher than those of the control group(P<0.05).Conclusions A home-based tele-rehabilitation training programme can effectively improve postoperative functional independence and hip function, reduce pain levels, and improve the mental status and quality of life of elderly HF patients.
