Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of microwave in situ inactivation combined with intralesional curettage in the treatment of atypical cartilaginous tumors. Methods Preoperative preparation, surgical techniques, postoperative follow-up and complications of 19 patients with atypical cartilage tumors of the long bones of the limbs treated in our hospital from April 2014 to August 2019 were retrospectively analyzed. Results As of January 2024,patients in this group were followed up for 38-116 months, with an average of 74 months. One patient experienced recurrence 8 months after surgery and died of lung metastasis 38 months after surgery. One patient suffered a surgical site fracture 4 months after surgery.Except for one deceased patient, the MSTS scores of the other 18 patients were 20-30 points(67%-100%),with an average of 27 points(90%).Conclusions Microwave in situ inactivation combined with intralesional scraping surgery has low recurrence rate, low incidence of complications, good limb function, and satisfactory clinical efficacy for the treatment of atypical cartilage tumors of long bones.
