Abstract:Objective To investigate the prognostic factors of soft tissue sarcoma after unplanned surgery. Methods A retrospective study of 194 cases of soft tissue sarcoma after initial inadequate resections was conducted from Jan. 2007 to Jan. 2016. All patients accepted re-surgery in our hospital. Univariate and multivariate analysis was used to detect the independent factors affecting the recurrence-free survival ( RFS ), metastasis-free survival ( MFS ) and overall survival ( OS ). Results Multivariate regression analysis showed that the expressions of Ki-67 in tumor tissues affected RFS ( P < 0.05 ). The pathological types, tumor adjacent bone tissue invasion, the size of primary tumor and the expressions of Ki-67 in tumor tissues affected MFS ( P < 0.05 ). The time from unplanned surgery to re-surgery, the expressions of Ki-67 in the tumor tissues and distant metastasis at the follow-up affected the OS of patients ( P < 0.05 ). Conclusions The expression of Ki-67 in tumor tissues is an independent risk factor for recurrence, metastasis and overall survival. In patients with soft tissue sarcoma after unplanned surgery, re-surgery should be considered earlier.
