Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical effects of self-made extractor on mistaken suture of the orthopedic drainage tube. Methods From October 2016 to October 2017, 6 cases ( 4 males and 2 females ) were analyzed retrospectively. Drainage tubes could not be pulled out after many attempts, which were entrapped. Results All 6 cases were successfully extubated. The operation lasted 3 - 5 min. Patients experienced temporary and mild pain intraoperatively. The removed drainage tubes were intact with obvious suture-cut marks on the tube wall. Neither wound pain nor active bleeding was found 1 day later. No wound infection or other complications was found 1 week later. Conclusions Self-designed extractor has satisfactory clinical effects on the mistaken suture of orthopedic drainage tubes, which is less invasive with fewer complications.
