Abstract:Objective To explore the risk factors of infection after total knee arthroplasty ( TKA ) and to provide scientific reference for the infection control. Methods From June 2010 to November 2016, 24 cases who developed infections after TKA were recruited. While 120 TKA cases without infections were enrolled in the control group. Logistic regression was performed to analyze the risk factors of infection after TKA. Results Smoking ( OR, 2.21; 95% CI: 1.10 - 4.50 ), BMI≥24 ( OR, 1.29; 95% CI: 1.09 - 1.56 ), diabetes ( OR, 4.50; 95% CI: 2.28 - 10.25 ), ASA score ≥3 ( OR, 1.19; 5% CI: 1.01 - 1.43 ), bleeding ≥200 ml ( OR, 1.15; 95% CI: 1.02 - 1.37 ), length of drainage ≥24 h ( OR, 1.30; 95% CI: 1.08 - 1.54 ) were risk factors of infection after the TKA. Conclusions Both organic and surgical factors may cause infections after TKA. Clinicians should take measures to reduce the incidence of infection, considering related risk factors.
