MRI 3.0 T appearance of acetabular labral tears

Abstract：Objective To investigate the 3.0 T MRI appearance of acetabular labral tears. Methods MR 3.0 T images of 20 surgically proved patients with acetabular labral tears were retrospectively reviewed for analyzing the characteristic MRI findings of acetabular labral tears. Results MRI 3.0 T can show acetabular labral tears, the sensitivity, specificity, PPV, NPV and accuracy of MRI for diagnosing acetabular labral tears were 90% ( 27 / 30 ), 96.7% ( 29 / 30 ), 96.4% ( 27 / 28 ), 90.6% ( 29 / 32 ) and 93.3% ( 56 / 60 ). A majority of acetabular labral tears were axial direction and located in the root of 9 - 11 o'clock positions. Conclusions MRI 3.0 T was a reliable imaging method in the diagnosis of acetabular labral tears, acetabular labral tears were majorly located in anterior portions of the labrum.
