Abstract:Objective To introduce the clinical experience and surgical methods of transplanting free chimeric radial collateral artery perforator lfaps to repair complex bone and soft-tissue defects in the hands. Methods Eight cases of digital skin defects complicated with phalanx defects were repaired by free chimeric radial collateral artery perforator lfaps. Flaps 5.0 cm×2.0 cm to 7.5 cm×4.0 cm in area and humeral bone segments 1.5 cm×0.5 cm to 2.5 cm×1.0 cm in size were pedicled on independent perforators. Results All the 8 flaps survived well and the transplanted bone fragments united to the host phalanx 3 to 6 ( averaged 5.4 months ) months after the operation. All the donor wounds were closed with direct suture with only linear scar. A 12 to 18 months’ follow-up revealed a high satisfactory rate from the patients. Conclusions The transplantation of free chimeric radial collateral artery perforator lfap is a good option to repair complex bone and soft-tissue defects in hands.
