Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical features of knee osteoarthritis ( OA ) accompanied by meniscus injuries and the curative results of arthroscopic debridement. Methods Arthroscopic debridement was performed on 85 patients ( 85 knee joints ) with OA accompanied by meniscus injuries, who were followed up in the outpatient clinic at 12 months after the operation. The preoperative and postoperative Tegner and Lysholm scores were compared, and the patients’ satisfactory degree was investigated. Results The mean Tegner scores were 2.2±0.8 before the operation and 5.2±1.6 at 12 months after the operation (P<0.001 ). The mean Lysholm scores were 35.2±16.6 before the operation and 82.4±12.8 at 12 months after the operation (P<0.001 ). Eighty-three patients were satisifed with the results of surgery. Conclusions Arthroscopic debridement can effectivley ameliorate the symptoms of the patients with OA accompanied by meniscus injuries.
