Abstract:Objective To evaluate the clinical results of standard surgical treatment for the elderly with hip fractures after stroke. Methods The relevant data of the elderly with hip fractures after stroke who were adopted from January 2007 to December 2009 were collected. They were taken as the control group. Surgical treatment speciifcations were developed and applied after that. The elderly with hip fractures after stroke who were adopted from April 2010 to October 2012 were taken as the experimental group. Statistical Product and Service Solutions ( SPSS ) 17.0 software was used to conduct the statistical analysis. The patients’ baseline data, total hospitalization days, preoperative hospitalization days, total hospitalization expenditures and clinical results were recorded and compared between the 2 groups. Results A total of 186 cases were collected in this study, and they were followed up for 6 months. There were 85 cases in the control group and 101 cases in the experimental group. No statistically signiifcant differences existed in the patients’ baseline data and total hospitalization expenditures ( P>0.05 ). The total hospitalization time was ( 15.83±6.8 ) days in the experimental group and ( 21.02±9.7 ) days in the control group, and there were statistically signiifcant differences between them ( P=0.000 ). The preoperative hospitalization time was ( 5.93±4.1 ) days in the experimental group and ( 8.01±6.1 ) days in the control group, and there were statistically significant differences between them ( P=0.002 ). The complication rate was 22.2%in the experimental group, which was lower than 35.5%in the control group ( P=0.035 ). The time to ambulation was ( 8.00±6.3 ) days in the experimental group, which was shorter than ( 15.39±7.6 ) days in the control group ( P=0.000 ). The excellent and good rates of the Harris hip score were 86.4%and 90.2%in the experimental group and control group, and there were no statistically signiifcant differences between them ( P=0.510 ). The mortality rates were 12.6%and 11.8%in the experimental group and control group, and there were no statistically signiifcant differences between them ( P=1.000 ). Conclusions The standard surgical treatment for the elderly with hip fractures after stroke is recommended, with shortened total and preoperative hospitalization days and reduced postoperative complication rate.
