Applicable effect of narrative nursing education on the training of humanistic care competence of orthopedic nursing interns

Abstract:Objective To evaluate the effects of narrative nursing education on the training of humanistic care competence of orthopedic nursing interns.Methods Twenty-nine orthopedic nursing interns in a tertiary Grade A hospital were recruited.Participants received standard nursing education supplemented with a two-month narrative nursing education intervention when they entered into the department.The medical narrative competence scale and the humanistic care competence scale were used to investigate their medical narrative competence and humanistic care competence before and after the intervention.Results Post-intervention scores for both medical narrative competence and humanistic care competence were higher than those pre-interventaion scores,which showing statistical differences(P<0.05).Conclusion Narrative nursing education effectively enhances medical narrative competence and humanistic care competence of orthopedic nursing interns.
