Common pulmonary complications in elderly orthopedic patients during perioperative period

Abstract:Elderly patients undergoing orthopedic surgery have a significantly increased incidence of perioperative pulmonary complications due to the decline in physiological functions and the increase of comorbidities.These complications not only delay the postoperative recovery process of patients,but may also lead to more serious adverse consequences.Currently,researches on perioperative pulmonary complications mainly focus on pneumonia,atelectasis,and respiratory tract infections,but there are still many problems in clinical practice,such as the lack of efficient risk assessment tools and standardized prevention protocols.In view of this,the article intends to explore the common perioperative pulmonary complications in elderly orthopedic patients,conduct an in-depth analysis of pathogenesis,risk assessment,prevention strategies,and treatment methods,aiming to provide references for clinical practice and further improve the prognosis of the patients.
