A Case of Primary Metacarpophalangeal Joint Lock and Literature Review
Abstract:Metacarpophalangeal joint lock is a condition characterized by strong resistance to active or passive movement in one direction of the metacarpophalangeal joint, while interphalangeal joint flexion and extension are not restricted. It is usually sudden or caused by minor trauma, clinically rare but often reported in the literature [1]. In January 2025, a patient with primary index finger metacarpophalangeal joint lock was admitted to the Armed Police Hospital of Ningxia Province. Manual reduction under local anesthesia was performed, and the outcome was good. Herein, we report this case combined with a review of the literature.
