Abstract:Objective To explore the clinical effect of locking plate combined with Kirschner wire tension band fixation in the treatment of floating clavicle. Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical data of 8 patients with floating clavicles treated with locking plate combined with Kirschner wire tension band fixation at the Fourth Hospital of Huangshi City from January 2015 to December 2023.The Constant-Murley score was used to evaluate the postoperative shoulder joint function of patients, the range of motion(ROM)of shoulder joint at the last follow-up was observed, and the occurrence of complications was recorded. Results Twelve months after surgery, there were excellent in 7 cases, and poor in 1 case according to Constant-Murley scores, with an excellent and good rate of 87.5%.At the last follow-up,Average ROM of shoulder joint abduction, flexion, and extension was 125°(70°-180°),70°(50°-90°),and 30°(20°-40°)respectively.No postoperative complications such as tissue infection, internal fixator breakage, screw or Kirschner wire retraction had happened. Conclusion Locking plate combined with Kirschner wire tension band fixation could stabilize the floating clavicle, facilitate postoperative early rehabilitation and exercise, and have good short-term efficacy.
