Progress in diagnosis and treatment of posterior pilon variant ankle fractures

Abstract：Posterior pilon variant ankle fractures(PPVF)is a special type of posterior lateral ankle fractures,which is commonly confused and controversial in clinical practice.Improper treatment may lead to adverse functional outcomes and affect patients'quality of life.In this paper,the mechanism of injury,imaging features,fracture types and surgical treatment of PPVF were reviewed,so as to provide references for the formulation of clinical diagnosis and treatment plans.
