Effectiveness evaluation of collaborative nursing combined with leading health education pathway for elderly patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty

Abstract:Objective To evaluate the application effect of collaborative nursing and guided health education pathway in elderly patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty(TKA).Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on the data of 250 elderly TKA patients admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Xiamen University from January 2020 to December 2022.The patients were divided into two groups(125 cases in each group)according to different nursing methods.Patients in the control group received routine nursing care,while ptaients in the observation group received collaborative nursing and guided health education pathway.Exercise compliance,psychological resilience,postoperative pain,quality of life and knee joint function of patients were compared between two groups.Results In the observation group,training compliance of patients was higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).At one week after surgery,visual analog scale(VAS)score in the observation group was lower than that of the control group,while Connor-Davidson resilience scale score,American Hospital for Special Surgery score,and Generic Quality of Life Inventory-74 score were higher than those of the control group,the differences between the two groups had statistical significance(P<0.05).Conclusion Collaborative nursing and leading health education pathway could improve exercise compliance and psychological resilience,reduce postoperative pain,improve quality of life and knee joint function,and as a result,enhance nursing satisfaction for elderly TKA patients.
