Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of superlaser irradiation combined with suspension exercise on pain and neck surface electromyographic signals in patients with neurogenic cervical spondylosis. Methods Seventy patients with neurogenic cervical spondylosis admitted to Henan Provincial People's Hospital from January 2022 to December 2023 were selected and divided into rehabilitation group and comprehensive group using the coin toss method, with 35 cases in each group.Patients in the rehabilitation group were given suspension movement rehabilitation, and patients in the comprehensive group were performed additional superlaser irradiation treatment. The surface electromyographic signals of the neck, current perception thresholds(CPT),visual analogue scale(VAS)score of pain,Yasuhisa Tanaka's cervical spondylotic radiculopathy symptom scale 20(CSR20),neck disability index(NDI),self-rating depression scale(SDS)score and self-rating anxiety scale(SAS)score, the serum-related factors such as substance P(SP),prostaglandin E2(PGE2),neuropeptide Y(NPY)and cyclooxygenase-2(COX-2),as well as cervical spine mobility were compared between the two groups. Results Comparison of the above indexes before treatment between the two groups showed no statistical differences(P>0.05).After treatment, the average electromyographic value(AEMG)of the erector spinae and sternocleidomastoid muscles,CPT,VAS score,NDI,as well as serum SP,PGE2,NPY,COX-2 were lower than those before treatment, and they were all lower in the comprehensive group than those in the rehabilitation group(P<0.05);the median frequency(MF)of the erector spinae and sternocleidomastoid muscles,CSR20 scores, and range of motion of cervical spine anterior flexion, posterior extension,left-right rotation and lateral flexion were all higher than those before treatment, and they were all higher in the comprehensive group than those in the rehabilitation group(P<0.05).Conclusion Combination with superlaser irradiation in the treatment of neurogenic cervical spondylosis could result in better improvement of cervical surface electromyographic signals, nerve conduction function, pain relief and cervical spine mobility when compared with suspension exercise rehabilitation alone.
