Abstract:Developmental dysplasia of the hip(DDH)is one of the common congenital malformations in children.Early diagnosis before the age of 1.5 years and appropriate management measures can avoid later surgical treatment and lead to a better prognosis. However,if the child has already developed significant clinical signs at the time of diagnosis, surgical treatment such as femoral osteotomy,Salter pelvic osteotomy,Pemberton osteotomy, and Ganz periacetabular osteotomy is required. In this article, major treatment modalities for children with DDH at different ages were reviewed using the natural course of DDH as a timeline, with emphasis on femoral osteotomy and different modalities of pelvic osteotomy,so as to provide references for treatment strategies for DDH.
