Investigation on cognition and attitude of orthopedic specialty nurses towards qualification certification

Abstract:Objective To investigate the cognition and attitude of orthopedic specialty nurses towards qualification certification,so as to provide reference basis for constructing a scientific and universal evaluation index system of orthopedic specialty nurses'qualification certification.Methods Using convenience sampling method,495 orthopedic specialty nurses from 105 hospitals across the country were selected as research subjects from August to September 2023.Self made qualification certification cognition and attitude questionnaires were distributed and collected using WeChat platform.Results A total of 88.7%of orthopedic specialty nurses thought it necessary to carry out qualification certification,81.2%of orthopedic specialty nurses believed that the primary factor affecting the qualification certification in China was the lack of a unified qualification certification system for orthopedic specialty nurses.According to the comprehensive cognition and attitude survey results,the admission requirements for the qualification certification of orthopedic specialty nurses should be bachelor degree or above,nurse title or above,5 years or above of orthopedic specialty work experience,500 h of orthopedic senior nursing practice experiences;After meeting the access requirements,they needed to participate in the theoretical assessment(71.3%),at the same time,orthopedic nurses also needed to submit case reports(85.1%),orthopedic nursing ward rounds(67.3%),certificate of continuing education(49.1%),etc;The interval between certification and recertification should be 5 years,and materials such as the certificate of continuous clinical nursing practice and the certificate of length of time engaged in advanced orthopedic nursing practice from the initial certification to recertification should be provided.About 75.4%of the respondents believed that it was necessary to manage the qualified orthopedic nurses at different levels,and the focus of clinical role orientation of orthopedic specialty nurses at all levels should be different.Conclusions Orthopedic specialist nurses have a positive attitude towards qualification certification and a high degree of recognition.They believe that the lack of a unified qualification certification system for specialist nurses is the biggest obstacle to the development of qualification certification in China.It is necessary to establish a practical and advanced qualification certification system and recertification assessment mechanism for orthopedic specialist nurses as soon as possible,and carry out hierarchical management in line with the role orientation of specialist nurses,so as to promote the high standard construction and professional in-depth development of talent team in orthopedic nursing field.
