Abstract:Objective To develop a novel guide device which is used for open surgery to reconstruct coracoclavicular ligament, and to evaluate its tunnel drilling accuracy. Methods The guide device was made by using computer assisted design (CAD) and 3D printing technique, and then bone tunnels with 3 mm diameter were drilled out on 10 unilateral shoulder joints (harvested from 6 male and 4 female) under the assist of guide device. The minimum distances from the edge of tunnel to medial and lateral edge of coracoid on the inferior surface were measured,so as to evaluate the tunnel drilling accuracy of the device. Results The mean remaining lateral and medial wall thicknesses before cortical breach was (5.7 ± 1.3) mm and (6.1 ± 1.3) mm,respectively, and the difference had no statistical significance (P = 0.494,t =-7.110).Conclusion The device can be used to drill bone tunnel for coracoclavicular ligament reconstruction in open operation with high accuracy.
