Epidemiological analysis and pre-hospital emergency of road traffic injuries in villages and towns in Guangdong Foshan District

Abstract:Objective To summarize the epidemiological features of road traffic injuries in villages and towns in Guangdong Foshan District, and to explore the pre-hospital first-aid modes and measures. Methods Dispatching records of pre-hospital emergency ambulances for patients with road traffic injuries in Beijiao Hospital of Southern Medical University during January 2011 to December 2014, and their clinical data, were collected and analyzed retrospectively. Results The dispatches of pre-hospital emergency ambulances for road traffic injuries were counted 6181 times, with 5417 people (mostly were youngsters or middle-age ) received treatment, including 4933 minor injuries, 484 severe injuries and 70 death. The gender ratio of these people was 1.76: 1 (male: female). The majority of patients were suffered from body surface injuries and limb fractures. In total, the road traffic safety condition improved as time went by. Conclusions Road traffic injuries in villages and towns in Guangdong Foshan District have their own epidemiological features. Based on the independent pre-hopsital first-aid mode, primary hospital should make full use of their advantages, so as to carry out active and effective pre-hospital emergency work.
