Abstract:Health literacy is an important ability for individuals to obtain, understand, and apply health information and services to make health decisions. With the deepening of poverty alleviation work,98.99 million rural people have been lifted out of poverty, mainly in central and western China, such as Yunnan,Xizang,Sichuan and Anhui. The low level of health literacy of people out of poverty is primarily due to the adverse geographical environment, backward economic conditions, and the lack of medical resources. The health literacy level of people out of poverty is different in different regions, and it is affected by the difference in the accessibility of local medical services. For the study of health literacy, domestic and foreign scholars have proposed various health literacy measurement methods, including health literacy instrument for adults(HELIA),European health literacy survey questionnaire(HLS-EU-Q)47,new short-form health literacy instrument(HLS-SF)12,HLS-EU-Q16 for India, etc. These methods have good reliability and validity.Existing studies have shown that the health literacy level of people out of poverty still needs to be improved on the whole, and governments at all levels should strengthen health education, optimize medical services, and strengthen policy support to promote the overall improvement of health literacy of people out of poverty.
