Abstract:Objective To analyze the current situation and health care capacity of health care institutions in primary and secondary schools in Shandong Province, and to provide a basis for the formulation of school health care policies and the construction of institutions. Methods A self-designed questionnaire was used to collect the construction of health care institutions in primary and secondary schools in Shandong Province through online investigation. Results The data of 10 395 primary and secondary schools were collected.Among them,10.37%of the schools did not set up health rooms or infirmaries as required.Among the 1 883 boarding schools,50.02%of the schools had infirmaries.Among the 5 248 boarding schools or non-boarding schools with more than 600 students,35.06%of the schools were equipped with health professionals as required. There were statistically significant differences in the construction of health care institutions among different types, regions and levels of primary and secondary schools in the province(P<0.01).Conclusion In Shandong Province, there is a big gap between primary and secondary schools and the national requirements in the construction of health rooms or infirmaries and the provision of health professional and technical personnel.More investment should be made in the infrastructure of school health care institutions, especially in rural and lower primary schools;at the same time,it is necessary to broaden the channels of employing people and enrich the health care team.
