Research on the current regional and urban-rural imbalance of medical and health talents under the background of Healthy China

Abstract:Objective To analyze the regional and urban-rural imbalances in healthcare talent,and consider strategies for developing and strengthening the rural healthcare talent team.Methods Based on the"annual data by province"of National Statistical Yearbook from 2012 to 2020,the relative index of the ratio of health workforce was used to analyze the overall cluster of provincial differences,compare the urban-rural gap in each province,and predict the difficulty and gap of achieving the goal of health talent ratio planning in rural areas of each province in 2025.Results The relative distribution of medical and health personnel in different provincial regions across the country were categorized into four distinct levels,each exhibiting significant disparities.Urban areas in all provinces consistently demonstrated higher relative proportions of medical and health personnel compared to rural areas,especially for registered nurses,the urban-rural gap was more obvious.Furthermore,the urban-rural disparity ratio within provincial regions were classified into three categories,with 64%of provinces experiencing a medium to large gap.It was anticipated that by 2025,the national planned medical and health talent ratio target would be achieved,approximately 67%of provincial rural areas would face challenges.Conclusion The common difficult task of Healthy China in various provinces still lies in rural areas,it is suggested to improve the special training system of rural health talents,give play to the cultural advantages of rural traditional Chinese medicine talent training.
