Investigation on physical development of preschool children and parents'demand for child health care in Deqing County,Zhejiang Province

Abstract:Objective To explore the physical development of preschool children in Deqing County,Zhejiang Province,and to investigate their parents'needs for child health care.Methods A total of 166 preschool children and their parents in Deqing County were selected as the survey subjects to compare the health status of permanent and migrant children,and to investigate the parents'needs for children's health care and their ways of acquiring relevant knowledge.Results The proportion of permanent children who established a child health manual(x2=4.254),participated in regular physical examinations(x2=6.472),and received regular vaccinations(x2=6.729)was higher than that of migrant children(P<0.05).The top three priorities for parents'needs for children's health knowledge were common disease prevention and control,vaccination,and physical examination,accounting for 78.92%,65.06%,and 63.86%respectively.The main ways for parents to obtain knowledge related to child health included outpatient consultation and media promotion,accounting for 69.28%and 60.84%respectively.Conclusion Preschool children's posture gradually increases,their body sensitivity,strength,coordination,and balance abilities increase,while their flexibility decreases;the health status of resident children is better,and parents have a high level of attention to the health care needs of children.
