Abstract:Objective To explore the effects of modified mindfulness-based stress reduction(MBSR)therapy on social anxiety and self-acceptance of college students. Methods A total of 72 of students with Interaction Anxiousness Scale(IAS)score>60 were randomly divided into experimental group and control group, with 36 cases in each group. The control group adopted conventional intervention, and the experimental group received modified MBSR therapy for 8 weeks on the basis of conventional intervention.IAS and self-acceptance questionnaire(SAQ)were used to evaluate the levels of social anxiety and self-acceptance of the two groups before intervention,at the end of intervention and 3 months after intervention. Results The results of simple effect analysis showed that the difference of two groups'IAS scores between at the end of intervention and 3 months after intervention was statistically significant(P<0.05),the difference of two groups'total score of SAQ,self-acceptance and self-evaluation at 3 months after intervention were statistically significant(all P<0.05).Conclusion Modified MBSR can not only reduce the social anxiety level of college students, but also improve their self-acceptance level with the extension of intervention time.
