Abstract:Objectives To understand the AIDS prevalence among adolescents from 2006 to 2016 in Ningbo, explore a effective way to prevent AIDS epidemic in adolescents. Methods Cross sectional study was used to analyze the data of HIV infection among adolescents from the National AIDS control and prevention information system. Fisher's exact tests and χ2 were used to compare the constituent ratio variables. Results Six hundred and forty-three adolescents were reported HIV positive from 2006 to 2016, the leading cause of transmission was improper sexual behavior, accounted for 96. 42 % ( 620/643), including 315 cases of MSM ( 69. 23%, 315/455). The rate of HIV positive among adolescents was 9. 82/100000 in 2016, the prevalence AIDS among adolescent was still lower than that of overall-infection rate. The most efficient approach was the VCT outpatient clinic. Conclusion Ningbo is still a low epidemic area of AIDS according to the data, but the rate among adolescents is climbing along with the years. Adolescents are much more susceptible to sexual risk behaviors than adults as they act more aggressively and impulsively, it is necessary to conduct education program among adolescents. To further decrease the HIV/AIDS prevalence among adolescents in Ningbo, more work need to be done not only to increase their knowledge, but also to correct their attitude and behaviors.
