Introduction and Screening Experiment of New Early-maturing and High-quality Potato Varieties in Liaoning Province

Abstract：To screen early-maturing and high-quality of new varieties of potatoes suitable for cultivation in Liaoning double-cropping zone,eight varieties were introduced and were evaluated in Caishenmiao,Benxi city,Liaoning province.The local main variety,'Feiuerita'was used as the control.The varieties were compared based on their phenological periods,characteristics,yields,and qualities.The results showed that the tested varieties were all semi-early maturing varieties.The yield of'Zhiongshu 168'was slightly higher than that of the control,but its tuber flesh showed blackheart,possibly due to climatic factors or physiological disorders.'Beifang 712'showed average field growth with some degeneration,but it had the highest yield.'Longshu 24'had a growth period of 76 days,a marketable tuber rate of 91.5％,a yield of 3 094.1 kg/667 m2,low reducing sugar content,and high protein content.It could be further promoted for cultivation.
