High-quality and High-yield Cultivation Technology Integration of Baby Pumpkin in Arch Greenhouses in Southwestern Shandong Province

Abstract：Baby pumpkin is a small-sized high-quality chestnut-flavored pumpkin cultivar with starchy,glutinous,sweet and aromatic texture,low caloric value and abundant nutrients,which is suitable for cultivation in southwestern Shandong province.However,due to the drastic temperature fluctuations in spring and the high difficulty of environmental regulation in arch sheds,problems such as unscientific water and fertilizer management,inadequate temperature and light control,delayed pest and disease prevention and control,poor pollination and low fruit setting rate are widespread in baby pumpkin production,which seriously restrict the growth vigor,yield and commercial quality of the crop.Combined with the climatic characteristics,occurrence regularity of pests and diseases,and characteristics of protected cultivation in southwestern Shandong province,this paper summarized the efficient cultivation techniques of baby pumpkin adapted to spring arch greenhouses from key links including cultivar selection,temperature regulation,water and fertilizer management,pruning and shoot thinning,aiming to provide technical support for the development of the local Beibei pumpkin industry.
