Abstract:In recent years,China's passion fruit industry has experienced rapid expansion. However, the predominance of a few cultivated varieties with narrow genetic backgrounds has led to issues such as varietal degeneration and diminished disease resistance.Conventional breeding methods struggle to meet the industry's demand for high-quality germplasm.Plant in vitro regeneration, based on cellular totipotency, enables the cultivation of complete plants through dedifferentiation and redifferentiation.Genetic transformation introduces exogenous genes via vectors or physical methods, combined with in vitro regeneration to obtain transgenic plants with stable foreign gene expression, representing a crucial technical approach for passionfruit variety improvement. This article systematically summarized the pathways of in vitroregeneration, explant types, basal media formulations, and supplement combinations used in passion fruit.Furthermore,it compiled the methodologies employed in genetic transformation, including regeneration pathways, explant selection, and transformation conditions. Finally, the review discussed current challenges and potential solutions in passion fruit in vitroregeneration and genetic transformation research, aiming to provide references for future studies.
