Research on the Causes of Genetic Degradation and Countermeasures for Bottle Gourds in Liaocheng City

Abstract：The gourd industry is one of the most representative characteristic industries in Liaocheng city,with over 100 varieties and sales accounting for 75%of the national market share,forming a complete industrial chain encompassing planting,processing,and sales.This paper briefly introduced the local gourd varieties of Liaocheng and provided a detailed analysis of the causes of gourd variety degradation.Based on continuous year-round comparative trials of gourd varieties and hybrid breeding experiments conducted in both Liaocheng city and Hainan province,key techniques for variety purification and rejuvenation were summarized.Furthermore,countermeasures and suggestions to promote the development of the gourd industry were proposed,aiming to provide a reference for building the Liaocheng gourd brand and ensuring the sustainable and healthy growth of the industry.
