Abstract:α-Al2O3 powder was prepared by high temperature calcination using industrial alumina powder as raw material and H3BO3 as mineralizer. The influences of calcination temperature and H3BO3 dosage on the phase ratio of α-Al2O3,the corotent of impurity Na2O and the grain size and morphology were studied. The results show that the increasing of H3BO3 dosage has little effect on the phase conversion of Al2O3.The addition of H3BO3 can accelerate the grain growth of α-Al2O3,reduce the content of β-Al2O3 and impurity Na2O.With the increasing of calcination temperature, the particle size of α-Al2O3 increases gradually, the grain morphology is regular, the grain surface is smooth and the grain size is uniform, and the calcination temperature is the main factor affecting the phase ratio of Al2O3 and reducing the content of Na2O.When the calcination temperature is 1 450℃and the mass fraction of H3BO3 is 0.4%,the mass fraction of impurity Na2O is 0.001%,the particle size of α-Al2O3 powder is 1~1.5 μm,and the grain morphology is the best.
