Abstract:OBJECTIVE To understand the current status of Helicobacter pylori infection among primary and secondary school students in Linqu County of Weifang, and analyze the related risk factors, providing a scientific basis for the next step of standardized management.METHODS Helicobacter pylori detection was conducted among primary and secondary school students in some urban and rural communities in Linqu County.Students from grades 2 to 4 in each school were selected, and samples were drawn according to standards.A total of 1,280 children were included.Fecal Helicobacter pylori antigen detection and questionnaire surveys were carried out to understand the infection status and related risk factors of Helicobacter pylori among children.RESULTS A total of 1,280 primary and secondary school students meeting the criteria were included in the study, with 107 cases of Helicobacter pylori infection, resulting in an infection rate of 8.36%.There was no statistically significant difference in the infection rate among primary and secondary school students of different genders and age groups(P>0.05),but there was a statistically significant difference in the infection rate between primary and secondary school students in urban and rural communities(P<0.05).Univariate analysis showed that Helicobacter pylori infection among primary and secondary school students in Linqu County was related to frequent finger-sucking,fondness for snacks, handwashing before meals, fixed tableware, and drinking raw water, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).Multivariate Logistic regression analysis indicated that frequent finger-sucking,not washing hands before meals, and drinking raw water were independent risk factors for Helicobacter pylori infection among primary and secondary school students(P<0.05).CONCLUSION It should focus on strengthening the health management of primary and secondary school students in rural communities, promote the use of fixed tableware, and actively change the bad living habits such as sucking fingers, drinking raw water and not washing hands before meals,so as to effectively reduce the infection rate of children with Helicobacter pylori and promote the healthy growth of primary and secondary school students.
