Study Progress in the Association of Comorbid Depression in Chronic Somatic Diseases

Abstract:With the aging of the population,a variety of chronic physical diseases are in-creasingly common among the elderly.Chronic physical diseases not only seriously affect the physical health of the elderly,but also are closely related to the occurrence and development of depression.It explores the definition of comorbidity,depression,epidemiological characteristics,correlation mechanisms,factors of influence,diagnostic assessment,and intervention strategies.Studies have found that chronic somatic diseases are bidirectional associated with depression,involving biological,psychological and social factors.Effective screening tools and comprehensive intervention strategies are essential to improve outcomes in elderly patients.Through comprehensive analysis of existing studies,it aimsto provide scientific basis and clinical guidance for the prevention and treatment of comorbid chronic somatic diseases in the elderly.Future studies should focus on individualized interventions and long-term follow-up to improve the quality of life in the elderly population.
