Analysis of Imported Malaria Epidemiologic Characteristics from 2015 to 2024 After the Elimination of Malaria in Suzhou

Abstract:OBJECTIVE To analyze the epidemiological characteristics of imported malaria outbreaks in Suzhou from 2015 to 2024,and provide a basis for formulating strategies and measures to prevent the retransmission of malaria.METHODS Using descriptive epidemiological methods to analyze the prevalence and distribution characteristics of imported malaria in Suzhou from 2015 to 2024.RESULTS After Suzhou reached the standard for eliminating malaria in 2015,the 128 reported cases of malaria from 2015 to 2024 were all imported cases from abroad,with no reported deaths.There were case reports in all months of the city,with no obvious seasonal characteristics.The top three regions in terms of reported incidence are Zhangjiagang city,Xiangcheng district and Gusu district of Suzhou city.The disease occurs in the age group under 65 years old,with the highest reported incidence in the age group of 25 to 54 years old,with a male to female ratio of 24.6∶1.The population is mainly composed of workers,farmers,household and unemployed individuals,commercial services.CONCLUSION Suzhou should continue to strengthen the prevention and control for imported malaria,ensuring that malaria cases can be detected,diagnosed,and treated early,preventing the re transmission of malaria,and continuously consolidating the achievements of elimination.
