Abstract:OBJECTIVE To understand the current status of sleep disorder and behavioral problems among school-aged children in Minhang District of Shanghai, and to investigate the factors influencing sleep disorder, thereby providing a basis for developing targeted interventions to improve children's sleep health.METHODS From June 2023 to June 2024,a stratified cluster sampling method was used to survey 1 419 school-aged children from three primary schools.Data on general demographics, family upbringing, and sleep disorders were collected using a general information questionnaire and the Sleep Disturbance Scale for Children(SDSC).Logistic regression analyses were conducted to identify factors influencing sleep disorders in school-aged children.RESULTS A total of 1 419 children whose average score of SDSC was(32.97±6.65)were included, among whom 213(15.01%)were found to have sleep disorders.Multivariate analyses revealed that female gender(OR=0.64,95%CI:0.47~0.87),being a non-only child(OR=0.70,95%CI:0.51~0.97),and paternal companionship time ≥5 hours per week(OR=0.54,95%CI:0.30~0.97)were protective factors against sleep disorders. In contrast, secondhand smoke exposure(OR=2.22,95%CI:1.33~3.72)was identified as a risk factor for sleep disorders.CONCLUSION Sleep disorders among school-aged children in Minhang District are closely associated with gender and family upbringing.Targeted community education can help reduce the incidence of sleep disorders in this population.
