Meta-Analysis of Health Self-Management Abilityof Chinese Residents

Abstract:OBJECTIVE To comprehensively assess the current status of health self-management ability among Chinese residents by meta-analysis,providing a scientific basis for enhancing residents'health self-management capabilities.METHODS A systematic search was conducted across databases including CNKI,VIP,Wanfang,SinoMed,PubMed,Web of Science,and Ovid,collecting relevant Chinese and English literature published from January 1,2011,to January 1,2025.meta-analysis was performed using Stata 18.0 software.RESULTS A total of 11 articles were included,with a total sample size of 8 441 cases.The meta-analysis results showed that the overall score of health self-management ability among Chinese residents was 139.95(95%CI:128.74~151.16),indicating a moderate level overall.The scores of each subgroup were different.The residents in coastal areas scored 142.39 points,which was higher than those in inland areas(132.89 points);females scored 141.52 points,which was higher than males(138.02 points);residents aged 60 and above scored 142.74 points,which was higher than those under 60(141.46 points);residents with a high school education or above scored 143.23 points,which was higher than those with a junior high school education or below(140.82 points);married residents scored 141.72 points,which was higher than those with other marital statuses(136.48 points);residents with a monthly income of 1 000 yuan or more scored 145.87 points,which was higher than those with a monthly income of less than 1 000 yuan(125.77 points);residents after 2020 scored 153.06 points,which was higher than those before 2020(137.09 points).CONCLUSION The health self-management ability of Chinese residents is generally at a moderate level and is influenced by factors such as region,gender,age,education level,marital status,monthly income,and survey time.
