Abstract:OBJECTIVE To analyze the iodine nutrition levels of children and pregnant women in Tianqiao District of Jinan from 2021 to 2024,and to grasp the iodine nutrition status of children and pregnant women in Tianqiao District, providing a basis for scientific iodine supplementation and timely adjustment of intervention strategies for children and pregnant women in Tianqiao District.METHODS 200 children and 100 pregnant women were selected to test the iodine content in their household salt and urine samples every year.RESULTS From 2021 to 2024,a total of 1 200 edible salt samples were collected, with iodized salt coverage rates of 81.67%,81.94%,59.80%,and 97.00%,respectively.The qualified iodized salt consumption rates were 55.67%,78.26%,33.89%,and 94.33%,respectively.A total of 799 urine samples were collected from children, with median urinary iodine levels of 157.40 μg/L,146.08 μg/L,153.49 μg/L,and 153.72 μg/L,respectively.A total of 400 urine samples were collected from pregnant women, with median urinary iodine levels of 173.39 μg/L,139.37 μg/L,194.29 μg/L,and 174.26 μg/L,respectively.CONCLUSION The iodine nutrition of children and pregnant women in Tianqiao District will be at an appropriate level in 2021,2023,and 2024.However,the coverage of iodized salt and the consumption rate of qualified iodized salt will be low in 2021 and 2023.Although the standard for eliminating iodine deficiency diseases will be reached in 2024,there will be fluctuations and risks of iodine deficiency. Therefore,it is necessary to strengthen the management of iodized salt and promote knowledge of iodine deficiency disease prevention and control, and continue to maintain an overall appropriate level of iodine nutrition.
