Analysis on the Prevalence of Common Chronic Diseases and Multimorbidity Among Adult Residents in Shouguang

Abstract:OBJECTIVE To understand the prevalence of common chronic diseases and multimorbidity among adult residents in Shouguang,to provide a reference for constructing a new model for comprehensive prevention and control management of chronic diseases.METHODS Utilizing data from 2 181 adults aged 18 years and older collected through the Chronic Disease and Risk Factor Monitoring Information System in Shouguang in 2023,descriptive statistical analysis was employed to assess the prevalence of common chronic diseases and multimorbidity among this population.RESULTS In 2023,the prevalence rate of common chronic diseases among adult residents in Shouguang was 76.16%,with a higher rate observed in males(80.19%)compared to females(72.45%).The prevalence rates for age groups≥65 years,55~64 years,and 45~54 years were found to be 92.84%,92.46%,and 84.63%.The prevalence rates of different gender and age groups of residents all showed statistically significant differences(P<0.01).The top three single disease prevalences were as follows:dyslipidemia(40.39%),hypertension(35.63%),and cervical/lumbar disorders(32.51%).For combinations involving two concurrent conditions,the most frequent pairings ranked as follows:dyslipidemia+hypertension,dyslipidemia+cervical/lumbar disorders,and hypertension+cervical/lumbardisorders with corresponding rates of 5.91%,3.07%,and 2.57%.In terms of three-condition combinations,the top three were:dyslipidemia+hypertension+diabetes,dyslipidemia+hypertension+cervical/lum bardisorders,and hypertens ion+cervical/lumbardisorders+chronic digestive systemdiseases with respective rates of 2.71%,2.38%,and 0.96%.CONCLUSION The prevalence of common chronic diseases among adult residents in Shouguang is relatively high,and the situation of multiple chronic diseases coexisting is severe.Dyslipidemia,hypertension,and cervical and lumbar diseases are the disease bases for multiple chronic diseases.Efforts should be made to strengthen the management of chronic diseases among men and middle-aged and elderly residents,with a focus on the prevention and treatment of dyslipidemia,hypertension,and cervical and lumbar diseases.
