Exploration of the Management Process and Effectiveness of Pulmonary Rehabilitation for Chronic Obstructive Pulmo-nary Disease Patients Based on WeChat Platform Community

Abstract：Pulmonary rehabilitation is a core component of managing stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD).However,due to patients'lack of proper understanding and supervision regarding pulmonary rehabilitation,they are unable to engage in effective self-management.The Meilong Community Health Service Center in Minhang District of Shanghai has developed a community-based management process for COPD patients based on the Diagnosis Process for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease in Primary Hospitals,tailored to local conditions.The process was applied to manage COPD patients.To evaluate the effectiveness of the pulmonary rehabilitation management process,60 COPD patients who visited the Meilong Community Health Service Center from 2019 to 2022 were selected.These patients had clear diagnoses and stable conditions and were randomly divided into a control group(n=26)and an intervention group(n=28).The control group received standard health education.In contrast,the intervention group established a WeChat group where healthcare professionals regularly shared relevant knowledge and required patient feedback on their adherence to pulmonary rehabilitation activities within the WeChat platform.The approach provided supervision and guidance on completing pulmonary rehabilitation.After 6 months of intervention,it was found that community-based pulmonary rehabilitation management via WeChat significantly improved outcomes:it increased the six-minute walking distance,enhanced self-management scores for COPD patients as well as quality-of-life scores related to COPD while reducing dyspnea scores compared with conventional health education management.
