Analysis on the Use of Electronic Cigarettes and Its Influencing Factors Among Adolescents in Shijingshan District of Beijing

Abstract：OBJECTIVE To understand the prevalence of electronic cigarette(E-cigarette)use and its influencing factors among adolescents in Shijingshan District of Beijing,and to provide reference basis for tobacco control among adolescents.METHODS A multi-stage stratified cluster sampling method was used to select 759 students from 6 schools in Shijingshan District for a questionnaire survey.Logistic regression model was used to explore factors associated with E-cigarette use among adolescents.RESULTS Among adolescents,the prevalence of E-cigarette awareness was 96.2％,the prevalence of E-cigarette use was 5.0％.The proportion of students who were willing to use E-cigarette was 8.9％.Among non-smokers,the proportion of students who had a willingness to use cigarette among E-cigarette users was significantly higher than that of non e-cigarette users(P＜0.05).The results of multivariate analysis showed that E-cigarette use was associated with parents smoking(OR=2.395,95％CI:1.041～5.515),and ever experimented with cigarette use(OR=12.607,95％CI:5.061～31.400)and believing using E-cigarette can be addictive(OR=0.304,95％CI:0.130～0.715).CONCLUSION The prevalence of E-cigarette awareness among adolescents in Shijingshan District is high,and the use of E-cigarette is not optimistic.It is necessary to pay attention to the increasing trend and consequence of E-cigarette use among adolescents.
