Abstract:OBJECTIVE To understand the current situation and influencing factors of spinal curvature abnormalities among primary and secondary school students in Maoming, and to provide a basis for the prevention and control of spinal curvature abnormalities in Maoming.METHODS A total of 8 575 primary and secondary school students in Maoming were selected by stratified cluster sampling from September to December in 2023.x2-test and logistic regression were used to analyze the influencing factors of scoliosis.RESULTS Among 8 575 students,798 students were found to have abnormal spinal curvature, with a detection rate of 9.31%.The detection rate among boys(12.73%)was higher than that among girls(5.32%),and the rates varied across different educational:high school(16.42%)>middle school(6.59%)>primary school(5.68%).Additionally,the detection in urban areas(15.00%)was higher than in suburban areas(4.29%).The differences in detection rates based on gender, educational stage, urban and suburban areas were all statistically significant(x2=138.42,287.77,231.09,P<0.05).Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that educational stage, urban and suburban, gender, time spent reading and writing after school, rotation of seating positions, and the number of physical education classes per week were all related factors for abnormal spinal among students.CONCLUSION The screening detection rate of spinal curvature abnormalities among children and adolescents in Maoming is high, with mild postural abnormalities being the most common.Integrated screening, exercise interventions, and health education are important for preventing the occurrence and development of spinal curvature abnormalities.
