Abstract:OBJECTIVE To analyze the epidemiological characteristics of mumps in Taizhou from 2008 to 2023 and to evaluate and analyze the protective effect of mumps-containing vaccines,so as to provide a basis for scientific and reasonable formulation of prevention and control strategies.METHODS The incidence of mumps in Taizhou from 2008 to 2023 was collected in the China Disease Control and Prevention Infectious Disease Information System, and the corresponding data were analyzed using descriptive epidemiological methods;in the Jiangsu Provincial Vaccination Comprehensive Service Management Information System, the vaccination status of children from 2008 to 2022 birth cohort including mumps vaccine, and the vaccine protective effect(VE)was calculated according to the formula.RESULTS From 2008 to 2023,there were a total of 5 911 cases of mumps in Taizhou, with an average annual reported incidence rate of 7.91/105(2.79/105~18.33/105).The average annual incidence rate in men was higher than that in women(x2=531.296,P<0.01).The epidemic showed a bimodal feature(May-June and November-December),with the population aged 0~15 accounting for 83.47%.The basic vaccination rate of the population with mumps component vaccine was 97.23%(95%CI:97.18~97.28%),the vaccination rate of cases was 57.87%(95%CI:55.26~60.48%),and the VE reached 96.09%(95%CI:96.03~96.15%).The average years of breakthrough cases was 4.19 years.CONCLUSION Mumps is more common in children. It is recommended that childcare institutions and schools do a good job in epidemic monitoring and vaccine leak detection and re-vaccination,and establish effective prevention and protection barriers to prevent and control mumps outbreaks.
