Analysis of Self-Reported Chronic Disease Prevalence and Risk Factors Among Residents of Huai'an District of Huai'an

Abstract：OBJECTIVE To understand the factors influencing chronic diseases among residents in Huai'an District of Huai'an,and to provide a scientific basis for the formulation of comprehensive control relevant policies and intervention strategies.METHODS A multi stratified cluster sampling method was used to investigate residents aged 18 or above.Demographic information,current chronic disease status,smoking status,alcohol consumption,sleep status of the surveyed residents were collected.The self-reported chronic disease incidence and the risk factors for chronic diseases were analyzed.RESULTS A total of 6 004 residents were included in the survey.The self-reported chronic disease incidence was 43.54％,and the standardized incidence was 22.9％.The self-reported hypertension,dyslipidemia,and diabetes incidence were relatively high,at 31.68％,9.68％and 8.94％,respectively,with standardized incidence of 16.00％,7.10％and 5.20％,respectively.Univariate analysis showed that there were significant differences in the incidence of chronic diseases among residents of different genders,ages,educational levels,marital statuses,smoking habits,hand smoke exposure,alcohol consumption,and sleep disorders(P＜0.05).Logistic regression analysis showed that gender,age,marital status,hand smoke exposure,and sleep disorders were the main risk factors for self-reported chronic diseases(P＜0.01).CONCLUSION The self-reported chronic disease incidence adult residents in Huai'an District of Huai'an is 22.90％.Hypertension,dyslipidemia,and diabetes are main chronic diseases.Being male,middle-aged or elderly,single,exposed to secondhand smoke,and having sleep disorders are the common risk factors for chronic diseases.
