Analysis of Colorectal Cancer Screening Willingness and Influencing Factors Among Residents of Jiading District in Shanghai

Abstract：OBJECTIVE To understand the colorectal cancer screening willingness of residents of Jiading District in Shanghai,to analyze its influencing factors,and to provide references for improvement of the screening program.METHODS Stratified random sampling method was adopted to select 1 199 residents aged 50～75 years old from 13 communities in Jiading District of Shanghai to analyze the factors affecting residents' willingness of colorectal cancer screening by using multifactorial logistic regression model,and stratified according to gender and age from May to October in 2024.RESULTS The rate of willingness of colorectal cancer screening among the study population was 59.2％,and multifactorial logistic regression analysis showed that people with junior high school education and above(OR=0.62,95％CI:0.45～0.87)had lower willingness to be screened,whereas those who were retired(OR=1.70,95％CI:1.30～2.24),with an average monthly income of 5 000 yuan and above(OR=2.11,95％CI:1.45～3.08),and those whose family and friends had previously attended screening(OR=2.03,95％CI:1.52～2.72)had higher willingness.The main reasons for residents' reluctance to participate in screening were"need to pay for hospital examination"and"self-judgment of no or low risk of cancer".CONCLUSION The willingness to participate in colorectal cancer screening among residents of Jiading District in Shanghai,is influenced by multiple factors,including education level,retirement status,economic status,and previous screening of family members and friends.Targeted promotional strategies should be developed to increase residents' awareness of colorectal cancer screening,improve the rate of early diagnosis and treatment of colorectal cancer,and promote population health.
