Analysis of the Trends of Visual Condition Among Primary and Secondary School Students in Zhangjiang Communi-ty of Shanghai from 2019 to 2023

Abstract:OBJECTIVE To provide a reference for myopia prevention and control by analyzing the visual status of primary school students to high school students in Zhangjiang Community Shanghai from 2019 to 2023.METHODS The refractive data of primary and secondary school students in Zhangjiang Community from 2019 to 2023 were collated and analyzed using SPSS 27.0 software,and a model was fitted to the growth rate of the detection rate of screening myopia with the change of grade.RESULTS The overall detection rate of screening myopia among primary and secondary school students in Zhangjiang community was 60.42%from 2019 to 2023,the respective percentages for each year were 57.60%,58.40%,62.60%,60.20%and 62.81%,and the rate increased in the past five years(χ2=57.541,P<0.01).The detection rate of screening myopia among girls was higher than that among boys.There were differences in the detection rate of screening myopia among students of different school grades,with the rate being higher in high school than in junior high school and elementary school.The detection rate of screening myopia among students started to increase significantly from the second grade of elementary school.Overall,the growth rate of the detection rate of screening myopia among primary and secondary school students in Zhangjiang community showed a trend of rapid decline at first and then stabilizing.CONCLUSION The rate of myopia in Zhangjiang community is at a high level,and rate in girls was higher than that in boys.The occurrence of myopia tends to be younger,so prevention and control measures should be formulated according to the characteristics of students.
