Epidemiological Survey of Osteoporosis in Menopausal Women in Fengxian Community of Shanghai

Abstract:OBJECTIVE A survey was conducted on menopausal women in Fengxian community in Shanghai to investigate the current status of osteoporosis and its influencing factors,and to propose targeted prevention and treatment recommendations.METHODS From April to June in 2021,a total of 600 menopausal women aged 40~60 years in a district of Shanghai were included in the study.The epidemiological investigation was carried out by means of calcaneal ultrasound bone mineral density measurement,body composition analyzer and questionnaire.RESULTS The incidence of osteoporosis in climacteric women was 22.3%,and the incidence of low bone mass was 29.5%;logistic regression analysis showed that menopause was a risk factor for osteoporosis in menopausal women,while milk intake,daily exercise,and outdoor exercise are protective factors for osteoporosis in menopausal women.CONCLUSION The incidence of osteoporosis and bone loss is relatively high among menopausal women in this region,and the incidence is correlated with menopause,diet,exercise,and other factor.Screening,evaluation and management should be carried out according to the epidemiological characteristics of the region to prevent and delay the occurrence of osteoporosis.
