Abstract:OBJECTIVE To investigate the current status of childcare knowledge among infant and toddler care institutions and their staff in Haizhu District of Guangzhou, for children aged 0~3 years, and to provide evidence and references for improving the for-mulation of childcare service policies in the district.METHODS In December 2023,a cluster sampling method was used to randomly select 55 childcare institutions in Haizhu District for questionnaire surveys.Additionally,514 staff members from these institutions were assessed on their childcare knowledge. The results were analyzed using the χ2 test,Fisher's exact test,Kruskal-Wallis H test et al.RESULTS Among the 55 institutions,54(98.2%)were privately operated, while only one was public.Affordable childcare insti-tutions accounted for a small proportion(14.5%).Health evaluation and registration compliance rates needed improvement. The geo-graphical distribution of institutions was uneven, service quality varied significantly, and the utilization rate of childcare slots was on-ly 50.18%.A statistically significant difference was observed in service fees across different areas(P<0.05),with overall costs re-maining relatively high.Female staff constituted the majority(94.42%),the age structure was relatively young, but highly educated personnel were scarce. The overall level of childcare knowledge was low, with an average assessment score of(58.68±12.29)among the 514 staff, and a pass rate of only 51.56%.Staff position and education level influenced assessment scores.CONCLUSION The de-velopment of childcare services in Haizhu District is unbalanced, with insufficient progress in affordable childcare.Measures should be taken to ensure balanced development of childcare services, thereby meeting the needs of families.
