Abstract:OBJECTIVE To analyze the distribution pattern of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)constitution and its correlation with mental health status among adolescents in Zhenyuan County of Yunnan Province.METHODS From 3th to 17th June in 2024,the physical examination and questionnaire survey were conducted on 555 adolescents aged 12~13 years in eight towns and one township of Zhenyuan County by random sampling method.Referring to Professor Wang Qi's 9 constitution theories, the TCM constitution Evaluation Table for adolescents in Zhenyuan area was developed to classify the students. The Chinese Middle School Student Mental Health Scale(MSSMHS)developed by Wang Jisheng was used to measure the mental health status. The distribution of TCM constitutional types and mental health status were recorded and analyzed statistically.RESULTS The overall evaluation results showed that the proportion of balanced constitution was the highest in Zhenyuan county, accounting for 39.46%,followed by Qi depression constitution>phlegm-dampness constitution>Qi deficiency constitution>Yin deficiency constitution>dampness-heat constitution>special constitution>Yang deficiency constitution. Most of the students had normal mental health status. The incidence of mild, moderately and serious mental health problems were 20.72%,7.39%and 0.72%,respectively.The proportion of adolescents with normal mental status was the highest in balanced constitution,dampness-heat constitution and special constitution, and the proportion of adolescents with abnormal mental status was the largest in Qi depression constitution. There was a significant correlation between mental health status and TCM constitution of adolescents(χ2=71.606,P<0.01).The balanced constitution was significantly negatively correlated with abnormal mental health status(P<0.01),and Qi depression and phlegm-dampness constitution could be considered as risk factors(P<0.05).CONCLUSION The TCM constitution of adolescents is closely related to Mental health status. The identification of TCM constitution should be strengthened to improve students'biased constitution and prevent their mental health problems.
